Before messing with SwitchResX, I could only select 60 and 59.88 Hertz. 59 and 58.88 give me an out of range error. Went into "system/library/displays/contents/resources" but everything is at least 1-year-old.Ħ0 and 59.88 Hertz both work. Switchresx I am sorry but from the start of this topic everybody just ignore the program Switchresx, he is the cause of the problem, i just had this black screen issue 20 min ago, and what u have to do is: Restart your mac in Safe Mode (Hold Shift when u hear the start sound), this will make the mac to do a clean initialization of your system. Uninstalled SwitchResX, but doesn't help. Setting a working resolution/ refresh rate and unplugging + plugging in the HDMI/ USB-C dongle reverts it again to one that doesn't work. Then I have to open the lid again, go into settings and change the resolution either to default or to a value the display can show. If I shut the lid on the MBP, it tries to go into clamshell mode, the external monitor switches resolution/ refresh rate again and shows the "out of range" error. Every time I restart the MBP, go into clamshell mode, or change something else that messes with the external screen, defaults it to I don't know what resolution and what refresh rate and I get an "out of range" error.įor example, right now I use it in mirror mode (external display shows the exact same as integrated one). The next 21:9 resolution (natively offered by Mac OS) is 3440x1440 which is a better size, but the text is blurrier. I have switchresx installed and the monitor is beautiful at the 5120x2160 native resolution, but the text is just too small for day to day use. ![]() My external monitor now has some sort of "default" resolution it can't display. I recently purchased a MacBook Pro M1 and LG 34WK95U-W (5120x2160) monitor. Somehow something went wrong (really don't know what I did). I tried setting some custom resolution with SwitchResX. ![]() My external monitor is an old ASUS 24" 1200 x 1920 (60hz) one.
